This is a laurel oak bonsai. Its a collected tree developed for years as a bunjin bonsai. Its in a 11.5″x4.25″ training pot. It stands only 23″ tall from the soil and has a 1.5″ trunk above the 2.5″ base and 5″ nebari. Repotted and ready for spring! The trunk is covered in lichen. It has been defoliated, thinned and wired. The last photo shows it before the work. Poor photos, i know, but hopefully you get the idea.
