Trunk Diameter: The trunk Dia, is approximately 2.75 inches. Canopy: 24 across both trees at its widest point. Nebari: The tree shows good roots 8. Height: The height of the tree from the soil line to the top of the apex is 20. Trunk Diameter: The trunk Dia, is approximately 2 inch. Most of the trees I sell are still a work in progress, but this grafted Twin Trunk Shimpaku Juniper is a tree that is now show ready. It has never been shown anywhere until today. The tree represents some of the best material I have to offer. I have enjoyed watching this tree grow and mature into the fine bonsai specimen that you see now. Most of the masterpiece bonsai trees that I eventually sell were started by the original first generation Japanese American bonsai masters that Ive studied under here in the west coast. This tree in particular has been worked several times over the past years by experience bonsai masters to bring to fruition. A genuine Twin Trunk (Soju style) requires that both trees come from the same root ball as these two trees do. The two trunks actually spilt just above the base of the root system and the excellent nebari conveys a strong foundation. Few bonsai demonstrate as many outstanding qualities as this Shimpaku so tastefully does. This bonsai started out as a San Jose Juniper, but I believe that what makes this tree extraordinary and beautiful is the kishu shimpaku graft that was added. The rustic nature of the San Jose Juniper and the delicate, dense green foliage of the kishu shimpaku create a bonsai that conveys the true meaning of the word synergy. There are few shimpaku even among the best known that rise as strongly from their container as these two trees do, with nice curves on both trunks and the focal point of the composition located in a direct line above the base. The tree was repotted more than two year ago so it is well established. Overall, the composition of this twin trunk juniper shows a tree that has weathered the tough times and has emerged as something more beautiful than when it started. The strong curvature of the trunks and its full branches gives one the impression of a tree that has spent its entire life by an ocean cliff. The tree has recently had lime. Sulfur added to the deadwood so the actual deadwood has taken on more of a bone white color. Adding to the synergy of the beautiful trunks and canopy is an equally powerful unglazed Japanese bonsai pot. The oval Japanese container contributes to the harmonious whole of the composition.
