Japanese White Pine, Five Needle Pine, Bonsai 110+ yrs old, Show Winner, Big Trunk , Fantastic movement, (see photos). It is 21 inches tall from the soil line, 20 inches wide, 16 inches in depth, with a massive trunk at the soil line that is 6+ inches, (see photos) fantastic barking. It is in a stamped tokoneme pot that is 12 x9.5 by 4.10 inches tall. It has one two shows that I know of, one when it belonged to my father in the late 70’s, and once for me in 2008 in the sacramento bonsai club. My father brought it back from Japan when he was stationed there some time in the late 60’s, before I was born. My father enjoyed and worked with this tree into the late 90’s. It was his pride and joy of his extensive bonsai collection. It is a white pine or 5 needle pine that is grafted on to a black pine base. This is done for two reasons, 1st is that the black pine root base is stronger than the white pine, and 2 that the black pine trunk shows more charatcer than that of the white.
