This is a stunning Pot Made By the man of Japanese bonsai pots, Heian Tofukuji. The only person whose ever had a book written just about his bonsai pots works and his career. I’ve owned this pot for over 10 years and still love it but wonder if someone else out there loves it as much or more than I do. I got it from the green club in Ueno park, outside of Tokyo during the kokufu ten show held each year for over 90 years. This pot shows some great patina on it and a very unique design and build. It’s also a former Tagaki collection piece. He was once the largest collector of Japanese pots and old Chinese pots anywhere in the world. It always adds some provenance and value. Please note this pot has some small chips and also a bit wonky. This is early days tofukiji, wood fired kilns, and things like this happened. Truly an exceptional piece. Please understand that this pot is in excellent condition but it’s likely 50-80 years old may have some super small minuscule nicks here and there.
