BONSAI TREE CLASSIC INFORMAL UPRIGHT TRIDENT MAPLE with 3.5 TRUNK. Chumono` class (Two handed). Nebari (Root Spread): Tree has many exposed Roots measuring 6. Most of the trees I sell are still a work in progress and this Trident Maple falls in that category, but it does have the potential of becoming a masterpiece very soon. The tree represents some of the best material I have to offer. I have enjoyed watching this tree grow and mature into the fine bonsai specimen that you see today. This tree in particular has been worked several times over the past years by an experience bonsai master by the name of Richard Ota of the famous San Gabriel Nursery in Southern California. The trident maple is an outstanding tree that usually makes its appearance in winter shows when the tree is leafless and bare. Additionally, the tree is also well known for the spectacular colors the leaves display in early spring and autumn (fall), which is often a striking bronze/purple colored leaf. In truth, the tree can also display these same colors during the hottest part of summer if trained correctly. All that is required is for the leaves to be cut back completely in late July and the new growth that happens rather quickly is stunning. As mentioned earlier this outstanding tree has all the right ingredients in becoming a masterpiece soon. A few of the trees attributes are the appearance of a nebari (roots) that so solidly supports the trunk along with. Well weathered and thick hollowed out trunk that many collectors covet. In a few weeks as we get further into spring, this tree will be exploding with new growth. Although the Trident Maple is a deciduous outdoor tree, they are almost in the tropical tree category. In other words, they can take cold weather, but be careful if temperatures go below 20 degrees. If it does get extremely cold, it is better to bring the tree in doors. Complementing the impressive trunk as well as the entire composition is an unglazed Tokoname ware ceramic bonsai pot (14×10.5×4).
