Sugar Maple Bonsai collected in Ohio approximately 10 years ago. The hardness of the wood gives it the alternative common name of Rock Maple. The tree is 39 inches long by 31 inches wide and 29 inches tall. Growing in a plastic pot that is 20 inches long, 16 inches wide and 5 inches tall. The stump of an old 2nd trunk is hollow. The bottom part of the main trunk is also hollow. The nebari is 9 inches across. Pink leaves emerge in the spring and turn green. In the fall, the leaves turn various shades of yellow and orange. The sugar maple is one of Americas best-loved trees. Its planted commercially for maple syrup and for lumber. It is valued for its hard, dense wood, which is used for floors, furniture and musical instruments. Native Americans invented the process of maple sap collection and its distillation into maple sugar and maple syrup. The sugar maple grows to a height of 80 feet and 40 feet wide.
