This healthy established Lodgepole Pine (yamadori) was collected five years ago in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California and the roots currently fill the pot it is in. This tree measures 17 inches tall by 22 x 19 inches with a 2 inch trunk just above the root crown. I estimate it to be at least 90 years old. The pot is not included. The word bonsai simply means a tree or shrub grown in a pot that is prevented from reaching it’s full size by pruning, shaping with wire, etc. To a desired shape. Many people have a perception of what they believe to be a “Bonsai”. What looks like a bonsai is simply subjective (up to the person viewing the plant). A bonsai is actually never finished because they continue to grow. When the plant reaches the point that it is a bonsai is up to the one viewing it. I consider all of the plants I sell as “bonsai” are in the category from beginning (starter plants) to mature and everything in between. Please note that the color of the leaves of Japanese Maples vary from season to season and because of environmental conditions sunlight, etc. The colors from spring to summer and fall may change considerably. The colors of the leaves may look different than the photos when you receive them because of these changes. I suggest that you search the internet for the specifics of the varieties I sell so there won’t be any surprises for you. Please use the photos as your guide to what you will receive. !!!!!
