The cork elm is a varietal of Chinese elm that shows a rough textured bark as the tree ages. This is a tree that I twisted with wire as a sapling and placed into the ground. As you can see from the photo’s, part of the wire is still exposed. The wire will completely embed itself into the tree in a few more years. The branches all started this year and will fill in quickly. This tree would make the perfect candidate for a shohin size bonsai.
