First photo taken 12/5/19 This tree leaves are now beginning to change and is fast approaching its dormant stage. This truly spectacular arrangement is the result of designing the container for the tree. The Kurama Free form shaped pot was specify created to enhance the movement of this Chinese Elm. Ulmus parvifolia Chinese elm Lace Bark. The pealing Bark on the main trunk and surface roots reveals the pink under layers that will in time continue up the secondary trunks and limbs. This trees styling is a direct influence of Chinese Penjing. Its trunk just above the surface roots spread, measures approximately 1 3/4 in diameter. This chinese elm was started from a single root cuttings, over 30 years ago. The tree and pot stand 12 3/4 tall from the bottom the pot to the top of the tree. The container measures approximately 14 1/2 wide x 7 deep, front to back. It is made from a cement components with a wire armature. It has drainage holes and sits flat and sound. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a root cutting from its parent tree. Every few years I produce a few of these trees and this one has great potential. It has been repotted this spring and shows great vigor. It was trimmed just before shooting. This tree has been wired at several stages during its development to achieve this styling and currently has only one training wire in place.
