#8 Shimpaku Juniper Bonsai / Procumbens Juniper Bonsai Read Description. This tree was styled by a student of a Japanese – American bonsai master named Ishihara. Who started his nursery in California in 1923. The student of Ishihara styled a hand full of nursery stock trees to create crazy moment on the trunk. As this tree has been sitting with just care of watering it has developed amazing movement on the trunk. The student of Ishihara would use the technique of the use of bamboo sticks to create the crazy moment on the tree. (Please refer to the picture). The style has been done by me to make its way as a bonsai. Every branch has been wired and put into place so it can start its way as a bonsai. This has great potential to be a really good tree. I was able to create some dead wood in the trunk that goes to the back and comes back up with a twist in dead wood. The tree has great ramification.
