It is just amazing when it flowers, some years it has been so covered with flowers you could hardly see the foliage. Then on top of that the flowers turn to small black berries which are edible. People make jam from the berries. Huckleberry’s are in the blueberry family, extremely slow growing and a rarity to be able to collect one. My brother collected this tree over 15 years ago and is one of the nicest shohin yamadori (collected tree) flowering and fruiting I have seen. I have owned it 6 years and it has just thrived. It has been trimmed, pinched back, fertilized and repotted at all the appropriate times.
