Like most the countries natural landscape they require a winter dormancy. They need the rest of winter dormancy to gather strength for another season of growing. All our outdoor bonsai experience the seasons to main proper health. In warm areas leave your outdoor bonsai outside, it will enjoy the weather. Where temps drop to 20 degrees your tree will need some extra protection. Move your tree to a wall of your house that shields the wind. Place it on the ground and cover with several inches of mulch or pine needles. In extremely cold areas you can winter your trees in a garage above 15 degrees. Light is not an issue for the tree while dormant. Water over winter every 10-14 days and never allow to freeze while dry.
