BONSAI TREE SEMI TANUKI (PHOENIX GRAFT) with PROSTRATA JUNIPER. Height: The height of the tree from the apex to the tip of lowest branch is 20. Trunk Diameter: The trunk Dia with deadwood, is approximately 3. Nebari (Root Spread): Tree has some exposed Roots 4. Canopy: Widest part is 21 inches across. Although this Prostrata juniper (Juniperus chinensis Prostrata) stands only twenty inches tall, it exemplifies what bonsai is all about. This wonderful bonsai looks like a very old tree because it is. The actual age and history of the tree can be found in the canopy and the old rustic deadwood, that was added to the tree. The canopy and foliage have been recently cleaned and wired and will fill in nicely, but the curvy live trunk and added deadwood are the part of the tree that is the most impressive. The reason I claim this is due in part to the strong natural appearance of the deadwood which is rarely found in a tree this small. The intricate beauty of the Shari and Jin work well with the contrasting live portion of the trunk. Any consider the Prostrata juniper to be one of the friendliest trees to work with because of its resilient ability to handle many environments. Overall, the composition of this Juniper conveys a tree that has withstood the test of time and it shows in its natural beauty. The pot that we chose to accompany this beautiful tree is equally pleasing. It is a rectangular Yixing unglazed ceramic bonsai pot that works well with the rustic appearance of the deadwood (14×11x4.5).
