LONGKONG RARE FRUIT TREE Lansium domesticum Wollongong Live small Potd Plant

Origin: Indonesia, Malaysia Distribution: Most tropical regions, but Longkong is grown mainly in Southeast Asia, Southern India and the Philippines. Common Name: langsat, lanzones. Reference and suggested reading: Lansium domesticum. Lansium domesticum is a synonym of Lansium parasiticum. Langsat and Longkong are in fact the same species of fruit tree (Lansium domesticum), but their fruits are a bit different. The name Langsat is used for the type where the skin is quite sticky to the fruit. The name Longkong is used for the type which has skin that is easily peeled off (without milky latex). The ping pong ball sized fruits grow together in big clusters. Longkong peel does not have sticky latex like Lanzones/ Langsat. Which one is sweeter is debatable, but the sweetest taste without sourness is Longkong, while Langsat can be sweet or sour, but the sweet Lanzones have a unique fragrant taste that seems to be absent in the LongKong. Longkong has extreme sweetness. In the Philippines, called Lanzones. The tree is from the Mahogany family. (Lansium parasiticum, taxonomic name). Medium to large tree native to tropical rainforest of southeast Asia. Fruits ripen to pale tan. Translucent sweet flesh with a hint of citrus. A mature tree can produce from 90-650 pounds (41-308 kg) of fruit per year. In Northern Hemisphere, Longkong fruits from August to October. Longkong: The longkong fruits have a thick, rough skin with a pale yellow color. There is no latex when the skin is broken (compared to Langsat, which has latex). Fruits have a round, big shape. The flesh is clear, sweet, or sweet-sour. Height: Longkong trees are 10 to 15 meters tall. Langsat: The skin of the langsat fruit is thin, with soft hair, and has a yellow color. There is latex when broken or torn (compare to Longkong, which does not have the latex). Langsat fruits are oval shaped, smaller than Longkong, about 2.5 cm wide and 3.7 cm long. Useful info: Langsat and Longkong are in fact the same species of fruit tree (Lansium domesticum, Lansium parasiticum), but their fruits are a bit different. Longkong Names Scientific name: Lansium domesticum English: Langsat, Longkong Dutch: Langsat, French: Longkong German: Langsat, Lansibaum, Longkong Other names: Lansone, Lansones. LongKong trees prefer moist, fertile soil and high relative humidity for best growth. Since they are slow growing, they are often interplanted with other fruit trees. Plants are slow growing and may take more than 10 years to fruit. They require tropical conditions, and will grow from sea level to 2,400 feet (732 m) elevation. Seedling trees may take 10-30 years or more to fruit, while grafts or air layers can fruit in 5-6 years with good care. Young plants may prefer a little shade. Young trees should have 50% shade for the first 2-3 years. Larger plants can take full sun. Best with some protection from wind. Plants can tolerate some drought once established but prefer a steady supply of moisture. Lansium domesticum may be propagated by seeds, cuttings, air layers or grafting. Seeds must be planted fresh, as they lose viability rapidly if allowed to dry out. Germination occurs in 2-3 weeks, and the seedlings are slow growing. Trees may be grafted at about 1 year of age, or when the trunk is about the diameter of a pencil. They can be grafted by cleft, side veneer, bud, or approach. Outdoors in Zones 10B and 11. All good things take time, so I grow my plants and rare palms in. Much more to check out or just get a little education on in my store. All items are delivered to USDA Inspection Station at Honolulu International airport. Please spend no more more than you can lose! The additional charge for any Phytosanitary Certificate is not included in this offer. This can only be done at the Dept. Combined Discounts Won Auctions. I can’t really change any of these. If you want one of this and one of that, it is hard to discount much as each different species requires it’s own prep, packing, then at USDA each has to be unwrapped and inspected then repacked. USDA requires me to clean and prepare every last piece before we drive them to the Inspection Station on the other side of the island. The whole next day we drive around the island and get inspected (2-3 hours), then drive to the Airport Post Office to drop off. It takes the same work with the same type item if you can understand. After you Receive your Items. When you order a plant we assume you are prepared to care for it. It is your responsibility to know how to care for the plant. Do some research before they arrive or seek experienced help. Small plants need protection from many things, wind, sun, dry-out. They do well just in the garage or living room. They need good light but not sunlight (full sun will burn small plants). Small pots dry-out easily. Just sitting in a shallow tray of water works well. The idea is to keep the plants from dehydrating. Be careful if you decide to re-pot. Plants are easily damaged with new/different mix. Use NO fertilizers (this may kill your plants). Proper care is critical upon arrival. Live Plants are NOT GUARANTEED to survive under your care. DO NOT expect any live plant to be GUARANTEED to remain alive. Plants are NOT GUARANTEED TO SURVIVE after you begin Care! Live arrival is guaranteed, eternal survival is up to you. IF YOU are NOT able to provide PROPER CARE, PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT plant to be GUARANTEED after it perishes. NO REPLACEMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED IF YOU HAVE REPOTTED THE PLANT. All photos must be as arrived in original condition as received (in the box and packed as delivered). If repotted, you are responsible for the condition of the plant. My responsibility ends when a live plant is delivered to your door. LIVE PLANTS ARE PERISHABLE. There is the risk when you grow plants that they may die. LIVE PLANTS are PERISHABLE, guaranteed not to live forever. US orders ONLY are GUARANTEED for LIVE ARRIVAL. All claims need to be supported with Photos of the damaged plant(s) as packed/unpacked, the box if damaged, the packing materials and any documents. To send any replacements, I try to piggy back with your next order. I value your business and will work diligently to keep you satisfied. If you are dissatisfied with the item for any reason, please contact me before leaving a negative or neutral comment. I want you to be satisfied! Mahalo iâ `oe no ke kipa `ana mai. E kipa mai hou! When you receive your seeds, you have only 7 days to make any claim. All seed sales are final. There are no germination guarantees. Seed is a live product which depends on many important related grower skills such as proper planting time, seed depth, type of soil, irrigation, proper use of fertilizers, weed controls, fungicides, insecticides, disease free soil, and reasonable weather conditions during the growing period. Germination is affected by such factors as temperature, moisture content, light intensity and contamination of planting media. M a h a l o & A l o h a!
