This rough bark variety of Japanese Maple is well established, well-cared for and ready-for-wiring. It is approximately 14″ tall with a 15″ wide canopy and is potted in an 8 round ceramic brown bonsai pot that has a raised dragon motif. It is a single-trunked specimen that was once one half of a double-trunked tree that was split in two. It has been in this pot for several years now and is well rooted; it is wired into the pot and would be stable enough to wire while still in this pot for later repotting into a bonsai pot of your choosing. It is potted in a well draining bonsai mix and can be repotted anytime at your discretion. The top was wired “up” into an informal upright style. Previously wire most was removed this season. Please see photographs for previous wire scars (normal) and think about all the possibilities for creating a new apex to make a very nice informal upright bonsai. Of course the main attraction is the nicely textured and fissured bark that is typical of cork-barked Arakawa Japanese maples, but you don’t want to miss the out on the beautiful fall display of red, orange and yellow hues. In the spring, pinkish-red stems are precursor to the budding out of the leaves into a beautiful spring green. The five-lobed, fan-shaped leaves then darken into a nice darker green shade. For the rest of the summer. Autumn leaf drop showcases twiggy ramification resulting in a nice silhouette that makes for quite winter time contemplation. This is not just a sapling in a pot that you might see listed as a pre-bonsai on other sites, this truly is well-managed pre-bonsai stock that with expert styling, wiring and care could be a fantastic SHOHIN BONSAi in a short period of time. Bonsai Japanese Bonfire maples shohin mame 27yrs fantastic group of 3 trees. This little gem is in a stamped turquoise tokoname pot that is, 8×6 inches by 2.35inch hight. It is just fantastic. The trees are 1 inches from the soil line and are 10 inches wide. It has a massive massive trunk that is 2.5 and the other two are 3/4 of an inch, see photos has just amazing structure ad ramification to it. It is just an amazing piece , achieved from decades of wiring, pinching and trimming. It also has the just amazing colors in the falll ranging from light yellow, dark yellow, deep reds, just very elegant, looking like flames. I started these from seed off of my mother tree. It is awesome starting from seed because you get genetic diversity. This have a supper sharp leaf cut pattern compared other Japanese maples. It has been repotted, trimmed pinched backh and fertilized at all of the apropiate times. I know the new owner will get the same gratification out of this prize tree that I have.
