Little Jade Bonsai tree CORK BARK Portulacaria afra Succulent bonsai Mame

Up for sale is a Little Jade Bonsai tree CORK BARK (Portulacaria afra) aka dwarf jade, elephant bush, spekboom, pork bush. This is a cool little tree! The height of the tree from the soil line is 4 inches. The tree is planted in a plastic growing container and ready for a pot. The tree was rooted as a cutting almost two years ago. The cork bark porty is highly prized due to it’s aged bark. This species loves water and lots of fertilizer which helps it grow fast. It’s an outdoor tree that thrives with lots of water but if neglected, it conserves it’s water but continues to grow. The perfect outdoor species for bonsai. The tree comes with my personal care sheet. The item “Little Jade Bonsai tree CORK BARK Portulacaria afra Succulent bonsai Mame” is in sale since Tuesday, June 11, 2019. BONSAI TREE RARE INDOOR OR OUTDOOR CHUHIN CORK BARK JADE in'YIXING' CLAY POT

BONSAI TREE RARE INDOOR OR OUTDOOR CORK BARK JADE in FINE YIXING CLAY POT. Trunk Diameter: The trunk Dia at the base of the tree is approximately 2.5. Height: Tree height from the soil line to the top of the apex is 12.5. Nebari: The tree show an impressive root spread 4 across. Canopy: The canopy spread is 9.5 across. This rare Cork Bark Jade (Portulacaria afra) is a mutated “Cork” variety of Jade that desperately wants to be a Giant Sequoia (at least in appearance). The rare plant first appeared in a Florida nursery in the early 1960s. At first it was thought to have some sort of fungal disease. A heavy application of pesticide nearly eradicated the problem by killing most of the plants. Fortunately, one survived before the nursery went out of business and the plant made its way to the West Coast. This tree was grown here in Southern California by a local artist who accidentally discovered this mutation many years ago and has been growing them ever since. The Cork on the plant usually appears after the plant has reached the ages of 5-8 years old. As seen in the photographs, this trees Cork appearance is well established and will become even more dramatic as it matures. Along with being one of the most resilient of succulents and having the appearance of a miniature jade plant, this Portulaca relative is very well suited for bonsai and the Cork Bark is like icing on the cake with its added attraction of the fissured, corky bark. Bright light and lean conditions (Little water) seem to promote the best fissured bark but also considerable patience. The specimen in the final photograph is a tree that came from the very same plant this tree came from. The tree belongs to my friend Frank Yee who has been training the tree for more than 40 years now and is something to aspire to. As with traditional bonsai, these specimens can become horticultural heirlooms that can be passed down from generation to generation. Complementing the impressive powerful stance as well as the entire composition is a rectangular Yixing ceramic bonsai pot (8.5x 7x 2.5). On a side note. Ive noticed that not too many sellers talk or write about things that should be done after you receive your tree so I will give you my two cents worth. When you receive your tree unpack it carefully. Cut the tape and plastic wrap from the pot and the branches if applicable. Secondly give the tree a good watering and then put the tree in a partially shaded spot for a few days to allow it to adjust. After several days of adjustment your new bonsai can be reintroduced to bright sun. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to fire off a message.
