In cooler climates, this tree can be grown as an indoor bonsai. I acquired this tree as a bonsai material, in the Chinatown area of Los Angeles, 10 years ago. It had a nice trunk, but I had to correct the strong S-curve, which is prevalent in low-quality bonsai. Also, I had to re-grow some of the branches. The tree has a strong directional growth towards the left. It has a thick lower trunk, with good movement, that creates the impression of age, and adds character. I wired some of the branches. They thicken very fast, so the wire should be taken off during the next growing season. The new owner should add more volume to the weaker foliage pads on the right side. This tree is constantly growing during summer, so it is easy to achieve a lush foliage pad during one season. This is a tree for a beginner bonsai hobbyist. It is easy and fun to work with.
