My foliage is slender, erect reedlike, and I grow and grow just like bamboo, up to 5 feet tall. I suppose that’s why I’m called Bamboo Orchid. I look like a miniature Cattleya Orchid. I’m lavender with a yellow-throated, purple-violet spurless lip. GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Plant bulbs in potting soil from the garden shop. Start in the shade and when rooted, gradually move into full sun. Keep the temperature between 60F to 80F. You will receive 2x plant of similar size to photos 4-7. Photos 1-3 are for flower reference and adult plants markings. This is a seedling of an extremely rare species from Madagascar. It is grown for its amazing foliage. The seedlings available have leaf colors ranging from silvery green to pinks to dark purple, all are highly striped and patterned. The leaves are rather stiff and are attached to a small pseudobulb. This orchid is a miniature and leaves will only grow to a few inches long. This is great opportunity to get a very rare orchid. This orchid can be grown warm to hot, in bright indirect to high light. Pot in a bark/perlite/stone mix and let dry between waterings. Light on the fertilizer. This plant doesn’t keep it’s leaves for very long, so don’t be alarmed if it loses it’s leaves due to stress. I will choose the largest with the most leaves first. Please don’t be alarmed if you receive a plant with no leaves, they are easily stressed and lose their leaves. They will grow new ones with the new growth. As a rule, the leaves don’t normally last more than a season or two anyhow. Great care will be taken to protect the plant as well as the blooms if they have any, but please keep in mind that blooms aren’t guaranteed. Please mind the weather and don’t allow your plant to sit outside for too long, as we can’t be responsible to weather damage (heat or cold). Do not pay until you are finished shopping. Please ask for a invoice before paying. This shrub has exotic pink flower panicles reaching up to 20 in length, which hang down from the main plant. The leaves are very large, up to 10 inches long, glossy dark green and oval. Medinilla magnifica will grow up to 6 feet high in zones 10 and above. They like to be watered from the bottom and they love shade. This is definitely a pot plant that needs to be in a greenhouse in most places during the winter weather. During the time it spends outside it is very popular with the birds, bees and butterflies. USDA Hardiness Zones 10 to 11. Some seeds will cost extra depending on their weight.
