Bonsai Japanese Maple SANGO KAKU CORAL BARK great movement 16 years shohin mame. It is in a plastic training pot, only because I dropped it last year and the Koyo pot broke on me and I have been looking for just the right one since.. The pot is 6×5 inches by 2 inches tall. The tree is 9 inches tall from the soil line, and is 7.25 inches wide. It has a 3 inch trunk at the soil line with great movement. I grafted this little gem off of my mother tree back in 2002. I have never seen a coral bark maple like this one. It buds out with new growth that is red around the edges, and in fall it turns a beautiful orangish yellow. Plus its outstanding leaf pattern shape. As can be seen the graft is lower in the trunk making it wonderful for bonsai. The trunk seen in the photos has a wonderful orange color to it just like the color of coral. It has been wired, pinched back, trimmed, fertilized and repotted at the appropriate times and is very healthy.
