Pre-bonsai Acer ginnala, Amur maple. 14 yrs from seedling. 11″H 10″W, 1″ trunk caliper one inch above soil line, 3″ nebari. This tree has had some wiring and branch selection early on. It has 4-seasons of interest- fresh green spring foliage, saturated green summer color, intense crimson fall leaf color weather permitting, and a twiggy winter silhouette. I much prefer this seldom used species over the commonly used Trident maple for its fissured bark with age. , intensity of leaf color, fast healing of pruning wounds, and fast growth of trunk caliper and nebari. Amurs are much lower in price than Tridents for a tree of comparable quality- although I don’t think they need to be. This particular tree could be styled as an informal upright or its variants. It was last repotted in March 2020. This species characteristically has a sinuous trunk and well-placed primary branching. It is beginning to prepare for its winter dormancy, hence the pale colors of the leaves as nutrients are translocated to the roots. You will receive 2x plant of similar size to photos 4-7. Photos 1-3 are for flower reference and adult plants markings. This is a seedling of an extremely rare species from Madagascar. It is grown for its amazing foliage. The seedlings available have leaf colors ranging from silvery green to pinks to dark purple, all are highly striped and patterned. The leaves are rather stiff and are attached to a small pseudobulb. This orchid is a miniature and leaves will only grow to a few inches long. This is great opportunity to get a very rare orchid. This orchid can be grown warm to hot, in bright indirect to high light. Pot in a bark/perlite/stone mix and let dry between waterings. Light on the fertilizer. This plant doesn’t keep it’s leaves for very long, so don’t be alarmed if it loses it’s leaves due to stress. I will choose the largest with the most leaves first. Please don’t be alarmed if you receive a plant with no leaves, they are easily stressed and lose their leaves. They will grow new ones with the new growth. As a rule, the leaves don’t normally last more than a season or two anyhow. Great care will be taken to protect the plant as well as the blooms if they have any, but please keep in mind that blooms aren’t guaranteed. Up for your consideration are 2 1/4 inch potted zelkova serrata, japanese grey bark elm. These seedlings range in size from 7-12 inches. They may show signs of being lightly trimmed at the top to fit into the box. You will receive a happy and healthy tree that is similar to the ones shown above.

Each tree is full growing seasons old from seed, by me. They have been in the container show for at least a full growing season and will come very well established, most times with roots blowing out through the drain holes.
