This pot was made by the Yamaaki kiln. A great old kiln that hasnt made pots since 2010, they are permanently a cold kiln now. Yamaaki pots are great to own because their usable shapes and sizes, along with being pots that have great value. They continue to have an upward trend in value and that likely wont stop. This is a good pot. Easy to use and very affordable. The corner detail of the pot is really nice. A nice touch to accent a tree. This Pot is irregular in shape so I measured from the largest spots for length and width. Pot size, in inches. This old piece was made the Yamaaki founder. It’s at least 30 years old, likely more around 50 or more. It was made as a slab for a forest planting. Whereas traditional bonsai features a single tree for one to contemplate a natural setting in nature; Saikei with its multiple trees, foliage, and hard-scape, transports you to an idyllic environment almost immediately. Complementing the beautiful composition is a very fine piece of black Slate stone 27×11x. Along with Saikeis idyllic beauty, it also has within it a whole host of horticultural challenges not encountered with traditional bonsai. Because of the shallow container. With little room for roots to grow and an abundance of green moss, the composition requires that it be kept in a shaded area. Complementing the beautiful composition is a very fine piece of black Slate stone 27×11x. On a side note. Ive noticed that not too many sellers talk or write about things that should be done after you receive your tree so I will give you my two cents worth. When you receive your tree unpack it carefully. Cut the tape and plastic wrap from the pot and the branches if applicable. Secondly give the tree a good watering and then put the tree in a partially shaded spot for a few days to allow it to adjust. After several days of adjustment your new bonsai can be reintroduced to bright sun. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to fire off a message. By nature Twin-trunk (Soju style) trees give an impression of serenity and with the grandeur of the Japanese Black Pine, the trees composition adds to an already impressive bonsai. This outstanding and old Japanese black pine has all the right ingredients and will be a masterpiece very soon. Two old trunks that rise smoothly from the dramatic base in a fine and elegant literati style, and an impressive nebari that is semi-covered by old moss helps remind the viewer that they are looking at an old and well established bonsai specimen. The excellent branch placement and super flaky bark help in giving the tree its very special character and enhancing the impression of age and dignity. Complementing this beautiful and old Black Pine is an equally impressive one of a kind custom made stone slab that works well as a bonsai pot (17″x14″x3). Because of the dramatic texture on the trunk, we needed a pot that would enhance the trees strong bark so we commissioned a fellow artist to create a pot that would work with the tree’s rustic appearance. After marrying both trees and pot and both showing such exquisite texture the one word that comes to mind is “synergy”. On a side note.
