This is a Chinese elm (Ulmus parvifolia) Its species name means’’small leafed” It has grayish, flaking bark. Its leaves are naturally small, making it a favorite subject for bonsai. It has been wired and looks great. This will make a great addition to any collection or a nice start to one. The height is 15” from edge of pot, trunk is 3 1/2” dia. Acer palmatum ‘ryu sei. This is the most pendulous japanese maple on the market today. The most unusual thing about this is that the leaves are fully palmate, light green and very attractively star shaped. Most cascading varieties have dissected leaves. If not staked, ‘ryu sei’ becomes a ground cover. When grown in a container it can resemble ivy cascading down past the bottom of the pot. For the landscape ‘ryu sei’ is generally staked up to a certain height then allowed to fall to the ground making a beautiful flowing mound. The tree will grow to about 8 feet tall if staked. Japanese name means falling stars. This is a two year old grafted plant. This will prevent the live plants from getting stuck at the post office over the weekend. Has there ever been a more beautifully ornamental weeping redbud? Bred from stellar parents — ‘covey’ x ‘forest pansy’ — ‘ruby falls’ is a breathtaking dwarf weeping-habit specimen, compact, elegantly formed, and ready to steal the spotlight from every other neighboring plant in your landscape! The blooms arise before the foliage in spring, deep lavender flowers on bright red stems and bracts. Very showy, they remain for several weeks before being joined by glossy, heart-shaped maroon-red leaves held on pendulous branches close to the central stem of the tree.
