Bonsai Japanese Hornbeam 21 years old shohin – medium “show winning tree” very high end , fantastic barking, see photos. It is in a supper old stamped Japanese tokoname pot that is 11 x 8 inches by 3 inches tall. The tree is 11 inches tall from the soil line, and is 6 inches wide. It has a 2 1/2 inch trunk at the soil line with great movement and fantastic barking, branching is very refined from years of work. This was my fathers tree who passed it to me. I has always had so much meaning to me, for he started it from seed and built it into the exquisite tree you now see. I know that he showed it many times, in all three clubs here in Sacramento, bonsai sukiyaki, American bonsai and Sacramento bonsai. I know before his passing he took a best of show in deciduous size group. It was his pride and joy, I only hope the new owner will get as much graduation out of it that my dad and I have. It has been wired, pinched back, trimmed, fertilized and repotted at the appropriate times and is very healthy.
