I obtained these at a rural king store a few years ago when they had them on late-spring clearance. They were 5-6 feet tall trees intended for landscape use and i stubbed them off to develop them as bonsai. I’m not sure which cultivar they are, could be indian magic or cardinal. The flowers will be a shade of pink in any case. Please note that these plants are raw material and great for someone who doesn’t mind taking some time to develop them into a finished bonsai. You may want to re-plant them in the ground or in at least a 3 gallon or larger training pot. Growing trees in the ground is the fastest way to develop a thick trunk and more vigorous branching.
It is ready for you to refine to your liking. The tree will be sent as shown, out of the ground with most of the soil removed. If the weather in your area will be too cold or otherwise not suitable for working on the tree, just keep it in a protected spot outside and cover the root mass with leaves or mulch until the weather breaks. The crabapple is a deciduous species that must be grown outdoors. It is hardy to zone 4. A great subject for flowering and fruiting bonsai.
