A huge carved and assembled natural jade bonsai longevity peach tree with elegant antique wooden stand interior suiseki art ???????????????????? The tree is superbly designed. The 200 also leaves are fashioned out of soft green jade stone; the small flowers and 18 large fruits (in red and green) and many small ones (in greenish white) are made from quartz or jade. The trunk is sculpted and leaves and fruits are tediously mounted on with silk thread and metal wires.

The rectangular basin is made from high grade spinach jade. The antique wooden stand has beautiful carved floral decor and graceful curved legs. This tree is distinguished in a few aspects: 1 its considerable size; 2 skillful design of the form, which, besides being a natural looking old peach tree, subtly hints the chinese character “longevity” ? ; 3 the harmonious distribution of mass and color, from the leaves to fruits to the basin, which make it lively and visually pleasant; 4 the antique wooden stand with finely carved floral decor and gracefully curved legs in black finish adds a contrast, and a calming and steadying effect. The result is this artistically elegant and beautiful assemblage you can see in the pictures.

An extraordinary jade bonsai set like this is nowadays very difficult to find. This bonsai assemblage will make a great center piece at home or offices. It will also fit greatly for a senior home as peach is a symbol of longevity in the orient as this tree represents. It certainly will make a perfectly fitting display for the reception room of a peach/fruits growers associations, farm organizations, or gem/mineral societies.

A thing of jade lasts forever. With no need for watering except occasional dusting (a small handhold blower or vacuum works well; water jet from small water hose works just fine too), and readjusting of wrapped wires(for leaves or branches that got pushed down, or to owner’s interest), this tree can be enjoyed and passed on as heirloom for generations to come. Size: approx 32 inches tall, 24 inches wide, 15 inches deep, and weighs about 30 lbs. The wooden stand is about 12 inches tall. The combined height of the whole set is a little less than 4 ft.

The weight is about 30 lbs. Circa 1960’s to 70’s. The stand is circa late 19th century.

The body of the tree is in perfect condition. The edge of the basin has a couple minor repairs. Estimate $1450.00 (the tree: $1250.00; the stand: $200.00). In terms of valuation, this peach tree has probably 200 also leaves, each about 2 inches long. They could readily be used as jewelry pendants. Say $3–5.00 apiece wholesale, they would be worth about $800; the two dozens also of fruits, and many small flowers would cost about $200.00. The sculpted tree trunk $75.00. The jade basin can easily fetch $150 to $250 at a bonsai supply store if they have jade basins! The silk and metal wire: $35 — 50.00. Tally up, the components alone would cost at least $1200.00. This does not include the numerous hours of labor involved.

The antique wooden stand is around $250.00. This tree was made during a time when labor cost was exceedingly low in china. If this tree was made today in industrialized countries, we would be talking about at least 15 to 20 times more in the price for the tree.

This tree was made circa 1960’s to 80′ when labor cost in china was low and good materials were more available. Today in china, labor cost has increased many times and superior grade stones like those used in this tree are much more expensive well. The result is jade bonsai trees made today are largely of glass and plastics, and those made of natural stones are mostly of softer and cheaper types coated a thick layer of wax, whereas high quality trees like this one is of all natural stones unwaxed. Presently this tree is worth much more in china than our listed price, and it’s very hard to find. No doubt it will continue to appreciate in value while it provides you beauty and enjoyment with no need for care of watering and fertilizing except occasional dusting (best with small fan or hair dryer or spray bottle with clean water) and adjusting leaves and branches by gently bending the wires to your liking.
