This is a dwarf japanese quince. These are rare, and are not like the ones commonly found in big box stores and landscape nurseries. This is a true dwarf variety that grows compact, with tiny leaves, corky bark and little red flowers. Its in a 4 pot now. Excellent tree with well developed branching. The bark will continue to get rough and flaky. It is dormant now and just starting to put out bright red flowers, typical to this time of year. It is well on its way to being a beautiful bonsai. This tree looks good in the photos but is way better than the photos depict. 9 years old since taken as a cutting.
