INCREDIBLE BASE AND TAPER!!! On This Sumo Style Trident Maple Pre Bonsai. Container grown its entire life with an emphasis on taper. Allowed to grow freely and cut back many many times to induce such a wide base and root spread. Trident maples are prolific growers and can heal over large wounds in a matter of a few grow seasons. All the wounds on this trunk have rolling cambium surrounding them and are on there way to closing and giving this fat little trident that bumpy, muscular look. It has been moved into a colander this spring to give it more room and vigor. The Akadama heavy mix will help the root system family and grow fine feeder roots to aid in the building of this tree. The leader had been left long and should still be grown out to make the transition of the first few inches from the trunk more in-line with the trunk. Sumo Specimen Satsuki Azalea Bonsai

This specimen tree was imported from Japan in 2016. Currently it is 12″ tall and 18″wide. It’s nebari is a huge 6.5. The taper and movement of the trunk is great from such a stout bonsai. Note the shari on the front of the trunk. Once it is treated again it will really pop and make the tree even look older than what it is. I took a picture of one of it’s flower, because I lost the name of the variety. Just from this one flower, I can tell you it will have solid white and pink flower. Sumo Chuhin Size Satsuki Azalea Bonsai

Here is your chance to get a wonderful Satsuki azalea bonsai that is nearly finished. The variety is Koun. This variety is rather rare and has three possible flower patterns. I can’t remember which one it is, but it’s one of the two pictures that I have listed on this posting. The style of this bonsai is an Informal upright. It is 13″ tall and 18″ wide. It’s nebari is 6.75 wide. The movement and taper is as good as it can get. It has just been cleaned and opened up to let the Sun into the inner branches (After Flower Pruning). Sumo Shohin Satsuki Azalea Bonsai

Imported from Japan last year, a very fine shohin Satsuki azalea bonsai. The variety is Akemi on tsuki. Only stands 8″ tall with a 3.25″ nebari. With an interesting trunk movement and sizable nebari, this shohin Satsuki azalea is a keeper. You have an advantage of seeing in full bloom and with it trimmed back. The trim back was just done on 6-19-2019. It is currently in Kanuma pumice growing in a Japanese ceramic grow pot. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Ilex Shilling (Ilex Vomitoria’nana’). The photo shows the actual tree for sale. This Ilex is a very mature tree, it’s been in training for nearly five years and is an absolute beast. The tree will need styling and I would personally shorten or deadwood the right hand trunk (first picture). This tree is simply old and shows its age beautifully while having excellent taper. This will be an amazing Ilex for any collection. Measurements: Height: 17″ Width: 21″ Trunk Diameter: 8″ Nebari (root spread): 11″. This tree ships semi bare root – loose soil is gently worked away and the rootball is plastic wrapped. Keep outside only- full sun is best. Ilex Schilling is a Florida native that produces excellent bonsai material. The small leaves and dwarf habit of this variety produce great character and proportion. Ilex Schillings are also very cold and drought hardy while withstanding serious root and top pruning making them great for bonsai cultivation. The dwarf variety typical is kept as a small hedge but with age can grow to over 10′. At one point in history, Ilex Vomitoria was a very popular tea; not to mention the weeping variety has more caffeine than coffee. BONSAI TREE OLD SUMO COLLECTED OLIVE with 6 TRUNK. Chuhin` (Short and Stout). Height: The height of the tree from the soil line to the top of the apex is 9. Trunk Diameter: The trunk Dia, is approximately 6 above the base. Base (Root Spread): Tree shows a dramatic base of 8. Canopy: 13 across at the lowest branches. The olive tree is surely the richest gift of Heaven. Those that know me know that I have a passion for Bonsai and along with bonsai I also have a passion for collecting trees from the wild. Living here in Southern California and only minutes away from where old California Juniper grow wild is in deed a blessing and a unique place to live to feed that passion. Nevertheless, I have found that not all masterpiece material is confined to the Mojave Desert or the. Some trees like this Old Olive can actually be found growing in rural areas if one looks (works) hard enough to find them. In this case, this Olive was found growing in an old. Community of Olive groves (Santa Clarita). The tree is an older. Olive that is gorgeous and in excellent condition. It was collected over eight years ago and after being collected it was allowed to recuperate and grow out for a few years. The tree was then styled and re-worked several times over to bring it to its present shape. While creating this piece we decided to make the dramatic base the center point of the composition. The only thing that was needed to complete the tree was to allow the branches and canopy to fill out and acquire that beautiful round shape that it now enjoys. Complementing the massive and old Sumo trunk as well as the entire composition is a shallow glazed blue rectangular ceramic bonsai pot. That is inundated with wonderful patina from its old age (11.5x 8×2.5). On a side note. Ive noticed that not too many sellers talk or write about things that should be done after you receive your tree so I will give you my two cents worth. When you receive your tree unpack it carefully. Cut the tape and plastic wrap from the pot and the branches if applicable. Secondly give the tree a good watering and then put the tree in a partially shaded spot for a few days to allow it to adjust. After several days of adjustment your new bonsai can be reintroduced to bright sun. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to fire off a message.
