We were hopelessly lost in. We were low on water and food and could not find the cache that we had stowed two days before. Half our group was ready to mutiny and turn back without seeing the famed Wollemi Pine in its natural environment and the other half insisted on persevering. The debate was turning acrimonious when we came around a bend and in the sweltering heat, saw a stand of 130 tall Wollemia nobilis flanked by a beautiful waterfall! They were simply magnificent and everyone was awestruck. Our collective mood shifted to reflective. Here were the trees, only a few dozen in number that had survived since the time of the dinosaurs, approximately thirty million years! We sat in the shade under the majestic trees and shared our last water and biscuits. Larger specimens are available. The item “RAREST TREE in the WORLD! California redwood giant tree seeds. We also carry larger packs in our other listings. Redwood, also known as “coast redwood” (sequoia sempervenis), are ancient giants. The tallest living beings on earth reaching heights of up to 360 feet tall, and typically live anywhere from 5001,000 years old. Descendents from an even more ancient lineage that goes into the prehistoric dinosaur era of north america. Redwood is a rapidly growing tree which may average 50 feet in the first 20 years. That combined with it’s unique towering presence make’s it a must have for any bonsai collection. Redwood seeds are not the easiest to germinate. With a germination rate of only 5%, plant at least 20 in a shallow container using clean potting soil. Plant shallow as the seeds need light in order to germinate. Wrap in plastic to keep moist in a cool area with “indirect” light. No sun at first as they must not become dry during germination. As soon as the tree is a few inches tall, it can be moved into a larger container.

Rocky mountain bristlecone pine seeds. Oldest living tree in the world! Bristlecone pines are the oldest single living organisms known. They two other species, (pinus balfouriana & pinus aristata) are also very long lived, though not to the extreme extent of the bristlecones. While they live up to 3,000 years old, the bristlecone pines can live up to a little over 5,000 years old. A very rare & beautiful bonsai. The green pine needles give the twisted branches a “bottlebrush” appearance, while the bristlecone’s “shallow, twisted, & disfigured root system and “dead woodlive wood ratio make’s it one of the most unique bonsai. Why use bristlecones for bonsai? Pines are considered to be at the top of the bonsai prestige ladder. While they are slow to achieve perfection, once they’re going, they are far easier to maintain and keep in peak condition. Pines require far less routine maintenance than is demanded by any others. In addition, they will stay green year round, maintaining that excellent appearance all year. For the best results, scarify by soaking in water for 24 hrs.

Stratify in a moist medium for 30 days at appx. 40 degrees f, then sow 1.8 deep. As customer service is our #1 priority.
