Black Olive – Bonsai. (tree pictured is the one offered here). The Black Olive has small leaves and yellow flowers. Old trunks have rugged bark that is often contorted. Growth spreads through flat topped branches that develop a horizontal zigzag pattern. Black Olives are briefly deciduous, often dropping their leaves and producing new ones. Leaves turn orange or scarlet before dropping. Often, new leaves will pop as old ones drop. Despite it’s common name, the Bucida (Black Olive) is not an olive. This species is now a protected plant and difficult to collect. Estimated age of tree: 60 (+) years old. Wired into the pot. The item “Black Olive Bonsai” is in sale since Friday, November 04, 2016.
