BONSAI TREE BIG OLD COLLECTED OLIVE with 16 TRUNK. Dai` (Four Handed and Heavy). Height: The height of the tree from the soil line to the top of the apex is 20. Trunk Diameter: The trunk Dia, is approximately 15 inches. Nebari (Base): Tree shows a very strong base 18 inches. Canopy: 26 across at the lowest branches. The olive tree is surely the richest gift of Heaven. By nature, Older trees have always given an impression of perseverance and with the timeless history of the Olive, the trees composition adds to an already impressive bonsai. The Olive tree has always been regarded as a symbol of life and peace. There is a majestic beauty in this tree that the viewer can admire for hours. The resilient ability of the Olive is also one of the many reasons why I love this species of plant. The tree is believed to live beyond 2000 years. The Olives from the Garden of Gethsemane are actually still alive today. This tree in particular is a 100 year old Olive (olea europaea) tree that is gorgeous and in excellent condition. While creating this piece we decided to make the dramatic thick old trunk the center point of the composition. This Olive was found growing in an old Southern California community of Olive groves (Santa Clarita). It may sound shocking, but in some farming areas of Southern and Central California where a small olive grove is no longer profitable, many of these old venerable trees are being chopped down and used for firewood. This tree was collected many years ago and after being collected it was allowed to recuperate and grow out for a few years. The tree was then styled and re-worked several times over to bring it to its present shape. E believe that this tree would look great in the front entrance of a home or as the centerpiece of a backyard collection. The tree actually has several good fronts, but we decided to use the side that showcased the thickest portion of the trunk. Complementing the old trunk as well as the entire composition is a fine and big Yixing ceramic bonsai pot (24x 19x 7).
