Check out my feedback to hear from my satisfied customers! Get them while they last this year! Check out my other items for more Japanese Maple Seeds, Seedlings, and Grafts! Be sure to add me to your favorites list. Because I sell Japanese Maple seeds, seedlings, and grafts every year! An outstanding cultivar with a deep-red foliage color. The trees beautiful leaves are deeply cut and dissected. Most dissectum cultivars with excellent red color during spring and early summer turn green or bronze. “Crimson Queen” however, carries its deep red color throughout the entire growing season. “Crimson Queen” is very sun tolerant and can endure full sun with practically no sunburn, but under extremely sunny conditions the deep-red can turn to a beautiful orange-red. Fall color can bring on an array of bright scarlet tones. This strong-growing cultivar originated in the United States and ages into a beautiful cascading form. As “Crimson Queen” ages the growth shoots become shorter and form a more dense growth. The tree reaches 3-5 feet ft. High in 10 years. This tree has become a favorite in the United States in the commercial trade. “Crimson Queen” is usually grown as a small tree or large shrub. Recommended by: United States National Arboretum. Awards: Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. First Class Certificate of Boskoop The Netherlands. An outstanding dissectum that differs from others in its leaf shape and deep color. The larger, more intricate, leaves develop a deep tone of purple red as they grow in the spring and retain this brilliant color all season. They do not bronze out in late season as do many other red dissectums. “Inaba Shidare” does well in hot sun and humidity, but likes some afternoon shade. During the hot summer months the leaves can dry out if it is not watered adequately. The fall color is outstanding as it turns from purple red to a crimson tone. For a dissectum, “Inaba Shidare” is unique in that it is an upright grower, yet it has a beautiful cascading form. The word shidare means “cascading”. This tree is vigorous and sturdy. The branches are stronger than most all other dissectums. “Inaba Shidare” is a great cultivar for bonsai. “Inaba Shidare” is becoming a very sought after tree in the United States and has been propagated on the islands of Japan since the mid-1800s. One of the older Japanese maple cultivars with records dating back to the year 1710. This beautiful tree has outstanding foliage color throughout the seasons. Tamuke Yama’s new foliage is a deep crimson-red when unfolding but soon turns to a dark-purple red. It is an excellent shade of dark red that holds until late summer. Its fall color is a bright scarlet. Experts claim that in the state of Oregon “Tamuke Yama” holds its deep color better than any other cultivar. Growers throughout the United States say that this cultivar does well in both heat and humidity. This hardy plant has a strong cascading form. “Tamuke Yama” reaches 5 to 7 feet in height in ten years. This cultivar is considered by many to be the best, and the connoisseurs choice in red dissectums. Awards: Gold Medal from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Seeds are the result of sexual reproduction; since the pollinating tree is not known, and since Japanese maple seedlings show great variability, the seedlings will not all look like the parent plant. Just as in humans where children take on characteristics of their parents but are a unique new combination of traits. This aspect of growing Japanese Maple seeds is part of what makes growing from seed an interesting and rewarding experience as you may be pleasantly surprised with the results. You never know, you may discover the next big new cultivar that the whole Japanese Maple community desires! I will include detailed germination instructions with each order. Red lace leaf japanese maple, acer palmatum atropurpureum dissectum. Hardy, adaptable, easy to grow, bonsai, brilliant fall colors, cold tolerant. Is a small deciduous tree of rounded or pyramidal habit p. Rized for its fall colors. At maturity it can reach 15 to 25 feet, growing faster when young, slowing as it gets older. Japanese maples are easy to care for and are very popular for bonsai. They perform well in containers and in the landscape. They are hardy, but grow best when planted in well-drained soil in a location protected from drying winds and where they will receive morning sun and afternoon shade. Native to japan, china and korea, japanese maple can be trained as a multi-stemmed shrub or single-stemmed tree. General plant form is rounded to broad-rounded, often with low-branching. The canopy is wispy and delicate and in some cultivars, weeping. It has slender, glabrous twigs and smooth gray bark.
Branches tend to grow in horizontal layers and often are contorted and twisted. Long and wide and deeply dissected with 5 to 11 lobes. The lobes are lance shaped, sharply pointed at the tips and doubly toothed on the edges. Small reddish-purple flowers in umbels bloom in mid spring. As with many maples, the flowers are rather attractive close up, but are not particularly showy from a distance. Flowers are followed by samaras (to 3/4 long) that ripen in september-october. Fall color includes shades of yellow, orange, red-purple or bronze. This is one of the most beautiful small trees for the ornamental landscape. It is perfectly suited as a specimen tree, an accent in a mixed border or in a container on the patio. It anchors the japanese style garden.

Many of the cultivars remain quite small and are especially useful in small gardens, even rock gardens, and for bonsai. The brilliant fall foliage lights up the garden, and the slender twigs and contorted branches provide winter interest. Red lace leaf japanese maple, (acer palmatum atropurpureum dissectum). Is a purple-leaved japanese maple with dissected leaves and contorted branching.

It typically matures in a broad-mounded form to 6 to 8 feet tall. It is noted for its ferny, lace-like foliage that emerges purple red in spring, matures to green with purple tints in summer and finally turns a showy orange-red in fall. Palmate, 7 to 11-lobed leaves to 6 inches long are deeply cut to the point of attachment and are deeply dissected. Small reddish flowers in spring are somewhat attractive on close inspection, but are not showy from a distance. Seed from this cultivar will produce new maples, but the new trees will vary somewhat in both leaf color and in the amount of leaf dissection.

Full sun to part shade. Yellow, orange, red or purple.

Easily grown in moist, organically rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Grows well in sandy loams.

May be grown in full sun in the northern parts of its growing range, but prefers some part afternoon shade in the southern parts of its growing range. New foliage may scorch in full sun locations in hot summers areas, particularly if soils are not kept consistently moist. Mulch helps retain soil moisture and keeps roots cool. Avoid hot and dry sites. Site in locations protected from strong winds. Can be grown as single or multi-stemmed small tree.

Pruning is best kept to a minimum, but if needed should be done in late fall to mid winter. Spring or summer pruning often results in significant bleeding. Japanese maples are generally grown for their attractive foliage and shape.
