New leaves are reddish turning a pale green in summer, then turning spectacular shades of orange, yellow and red in the fall. Autumn leaves can be fragrant, with varying scents of caramel cinnamon, burnt sugar or ripe apples. Katsura is dioecious (male and female flowers are on separate trees).
