Handmade Wood Grain 1st Gen Yamaaki Special Commission Bonsai Tree Pot 16 1/8

This pot was made by the founder of the Yamaaki kiln, Shosen. He died in 1990 so all his pots have some age. This pot was commissioned to commemorate a victory of a horse in a race. Here is what the bottom says It says. It is present from Hyakkaen to Mr. Hyakkaen is old bonsai nursery and they ordered Yamaaki. Tanaka is horse trainer. And the horse won the race which was on 1980, July, 5th. So the trainer must have liked bonsai is what I gather. Anyway, interesting thing and cool that it has a date. This pot was made by The Yamaaki kiln. Its a great old kiln that made pots for decades but stopped in 2010. The kiln is now cold. They made great pots for the price and the shapes/sizes/quality was really bar none. Thats why they were so successful. They continue to rise in value even with so many in circulation. This piece was handmade by the founder who passed away in 1990. Its got a lot of age and character to it. Pot size, in inches. Beautiful Rare HandMade Pot By Kokako 5 3/8 Great Feet

This pot is a very unique piece. I hand picked it in japan during the Kokufu Ten show, 2019. Its made by Kokako, her real name is Sanshu Takako. Her husband is Ito Tonyo, who is a very successful potter and his brother is the famous Ito Gekkou. The pot does have some shallow chips on the rim, but otherwise in a great shape. Great little shohin size Yamaaki pot. 1st Generation, made by the Yamaaki founder who is deceased as well. Its almost pear skin style with the large aggregate pieces inside the clay. Heian Kouzan Japanese Handmade Pre-war Blue Glazed Shohin Rectangle Bonsai Pot

Shohin rectangle by one of the top three Japanese bonsai potters of the 20th century, Heian Kouzan. A highly sought-after pre-war white clay example with the ruri-y lapis lazuli glaze he is best known for. Kouzan, whose real name was Koike Kazuo, was born in Seto in 1905 and passed in 1990. He is often referred to as kamisori Kouzan or the razor since his lines are so clean and precise. Despite being handmade there is absolutely no distortion or warpage. A true master potter, but also one with a profound understanding of bonsai and the relationship between tree and pot. Used but in perfect condition. 4.5 x 2.9 x 0.88 inches. Trunk Diameter: 3 at widest point. Nebari (basal flare) : 8. Pot: Unglazed imperfect round (Namban) – Signed Jim Gremel. This is a fantastic collected literati spruce from my personal collection. This was originally collected from the mountains of Oregon by Randy Knight. I’ve been working on this tree for the last 4 years and it’s looking great! It is completely wired and styled, sitting in a fantastic Jim Gremel Namban pot! As always, feel free to ask any questions you may have. I have a new batch of redwoods, grapes, and yamadori I’m working on. Keep an eye out!
