The rustic nature of the Prostrata Juniper and the delicate, dense green foliage of the Kishu shimpaku create a bonsai that expresses the true meaning of the word synergy. The tree was originally designed by Mauro Stemberger of Italy, but the canopy and foliage pads have been recently cleaned and wired by this writer and should fill in quite nicely. Nevertheless, the trunk is the part of the tree that is the most impressive, one of the reasons is due in part to the sinuous thick trunk and deadwood that is rarely found in a tree this size. Overall, the composition of this Juniper conveys a tree that has lived its entire life in a windy prairie which is evident by its wide full scale branches and its dramatic beauty. The dramatic Deadwood as well as the entire composition is an old Japanese rectangular Tokoname ceramic bonsai pot with soft edges (13x 10x 3.5).
