Ume are truly special. They flower in the middle of winter and have a wonderful almond scent. Their bark starts to develop a rough oak like texture at a young age. They also have beautiful fall colors before their leaves fall in the winter to display their twiggy silhouette. What better qualities could we look for in a bonsai. These bonsai were grown from seed and display white flowers. They were field grown for a number of years to develop their trunks. They were then dug and potted up in 3 gallon pots for training.
