Black Sapote, Chocolate Pudding Tree, Black Persimmon, Axle Grease Plant, Sapote Negro. Native to southern Mexico, Central America, and western South America. Photo of similar item. Chocolate Pudding Fruit Tree has near spherical fruit is medium size fruits. These seedlings are of unknown cultivar. This attractive glossy foliaged tree originates from Central America and Mexico. Black Sapote is usually dioecious, meaning that some trees produce only male flowers and no fruit and other trees produce female or bisexual flowers and fruit. Some trees may produce both male and female (or bisexual) flowers on the same tree. The smooth-textured Black Sapote’s. Produces a fruit often called the’Chocolate Pudding Fruit’. The Black Sapote fruit resembles a large, round green tomato on the outside and varies in size from two to five inches in diameter. The Black Sapote’s flesh is rich and custard-like, with a sweet, mild flavor and appearance, gives it a nickname, the chocolate pudding tree. Some people find the taste to be like chocolate, if you like Chocolate you’ll love Black Sapote. A very close relative of the persimmon the Black Sapote is a Chocoholics dream come true! Black sapote trees are well adapted to tropical and warm subtropical areas and may be planted from sea level to an altitude of about 6,000 ft. Trees are not cold tolerant with young trees damaged or killed at or below 30°F (-1°C) and mature trees at or below 28°F (-2°C). Black sapote is reported to be flood tolerant but only moderately drought tolerant. Trees appear to tolerate moderately windy areas, and if pruned regularly to limit tree size and open the canopy to wind movement can withstand hurricane- force winds without toppling. Black sapote trees grow well in most well drained soil types including sands and limestone-based, high-pH soils. A large, green-skinned fruit about the size of an beefsteak tomato. Flesh turns dark brown/black when ripe. Flesh both looks and tastes somewhat like chocolate pudding. When ripe, the sapote skin is dull olive green, which tends to break in small grainy pieces. In the hand, properly ripe fruit feels like a soft marshmallow. When you can press the skin with your fingers and leave an indent, the fruit is ready to eat. The flesh color of unripe fruit is mustard yellow, while ripe fruit has black, soft flesh. Eaten fresh or used in desserts. Mature black Sapote fruit change from a shiny green to dull green color and the lobes of the sepals (called the calyx) reflex upward. Harvested fruit take 3 to 14 days to soften to eating quality. After fruit become ripe they may be stored in the refrigerator for several days for later use. Hardiness: USDA Zone 10a: to -1.1 °C (30 °F). Sun Exposure: Full Sun. Bloom Color: White/Near White. Bloom Time: Mid Spring. Foliage: Evergreen, Smooth-Textured, Shiny/Glossy-Textured, bearing age 5-6 years. Other details: This plant is suitable for growing indoors. Black Sapote mousse’s, cakes, custards are popular dishes. Black sapote’s make a wonderful dessert fruit. Black sapote fruit are eaten when fully ripe and soft. The soft pulp may be eaten fresh or is commonly added as an ingredient of drinks, ice-cream, cakes, and milk-shakes. Black sapote is very high in vitamin C and a good source of calcium and phosphorus. Dulce de Sapote Negro. The name of this dish sounds better in Spanish (pronounced dul-seh deh sapoteh nay-gro) than its English translation, sweet of black sapote. 3 to 4 ripe black sapotes. (sapotes must be very soft; an unripe sapote is inedible). ¼ to ½ cup light honey, to taste. 1 teaspoon grated orange rind. 2 cups orange juice. 2 tablespoons finely shredded orange rind. Remove stems from sapotes. Pull off green skin with your fingers. You now have a dark brown, thick pulp. Inside are hidden almond-shaped seeds. Remove these with your fingers. In food processor, combine sapote pulp, honey, orange rind, and orange juice. Pulse until mixed well. Mixture is bright, shiny black-brown. Serve in crystal dessert cup or dish. Sprinkle a few fine shreds of orange rind on each serving. Makes 4 to 6 servings. Dulce De Sapote Negro can also be frozen as a sherbet. Sugarfree chocolate instant pudding mix. 1 black sapote (see Basic Preparation). 1 cup low-fat whipped topping (Cool Whip). 2 tablespoons instant coffee. Prepare pudding with cold skim milk or reconstituted nonfat dry milk, following package instructions. Add sapote and coffee to pudding, mix well. Lightly fold in whipped topping. Serve in dessert dishes with additional whipped topping. Tropical Black Sapote Pudding. 1 cup black sapote mashed in brandy. Ladyfingers or other plain cake. 1 cup whipped cream. The banana is a tender perennial. The above ground portion WILL die back in even short durations of freezing or frosty weather. In zones lower than 11, 10, and 9, where there may be prolonged cold a good mulching around the base of the stem is helpful to prevent the underground portion from freezing. Given this protection, bananas usually regrow in the spring. Fall and winter is an ideal time to start growing bananas but for most people they should be planted into a larger pot and brought into or kept in the house whenever day or night temperatures will fall below 45 – 50 degrees. The warmer the more quickly they will grow. This way a banana can grow to a good size by spring and thus get a head start on the new season. Is just 50 cents (each). Be made within 5 days. LONGKONG RARE FRUIT TREE Lansium domesticum Wollongong Live small Potd Plant

Origin: Indonesia, Malaysia Distribution: Most tropical regions, but Longkong is grown mainly in Southeast Asia, Southern India and the Philippines. Common Name: langsat, lanzones. Reference and suggested reading: Lansium domesticum. Lansium domesticum is a synonym of Lansium parasiticum. Langsat and Longkong are in fact the same species of fruit tree (Lansium domesticum), but their fruits are a bit different. The name Langsat is used for the type where the skin is quite sticky to the fruit. The name Longkong is used for the type which has skin that is easily peeled off (without milky latex). The ping pong ball sized fruits grow together in big clusters. Longkong peel does not have sticky latex like Lanzones/ Langsat. Which one is sweeter is debatable, but the sweetest taste without sourness is Longkong, while Langsat can be sweet or sour, but the sweet Lanzones have a unique fragrant taste that seems to be absent in the LongKong. Longkong has extreme sweetness. In the Philippines, called Lanzones. The tree is from the Mahogany family. (Lansium parasiticum, taxonomic name). Medium to large tree native to tropical rainforest of southeast Asia. Fruits ripen to pale tan. Translucent sweet flesh with a hint of citrus. A mature tree can produce from 90-650 pounds (41-308 kg) of fruit per year. In Northern Hemisphere, Longkong fruits from August to October. Longkong: The longkong fruits have a thick, rough skin with a pale yellow color. There is no latex when the skin is broken (compared to Langsat, which has latex). Fruits have a round, big shape. The flesh is clear, sweet, or sweet-sour. Height: Longkong trees are 10 to 15 meters tall. Langsat: The skin of the langsat fruit is thin, with soft hair, and has a yellow color. There is latex when broken or torn (compare to Longkong, which does not have the latex). Langsat fruits are oval shaped, smaller than Longkong, about 2.5 cm wide and 3.7 cm long. Useful info: Langsat and Longkong are in fact the same species of fruit tree (Lansium domesticum, Lansium parasiticum), but their fruits are a bit different. Longkong Names Scientific name: Lansium domesticum English: Langsat, Longkong Dutch: Langsat, French: Longkong German: Langsat, Lansibaum, Longkong Other names: Lansone, Lansones. LongKong trees prefer moist, fertile soil and high relative humidity for best growth. Since they are slow growing, they are often interplanted with other fruit trees. Plants are slow growing and may take more than 10 years to fruit. They require tropical conditions, and will grow from sea level to 2,400 feet (732 m) elevation. Seedling trees may take 10-30 years or more to fruit, while grafts or air layers can fruit in 5-6 years with good care. Young plants may prefer a little shade. Young trees should have 50% shade for the first 2-3 years. Larger plants can take full sun. Best with some protection from wind. Plants can tolerate some drought once established but prefer a steady supply of moisture. Lansium domesticum may be propagated by seeds, cuttings, air layers or grafting. Seeds must be planted fresh, as they lose viability rapidly if allowed to dry out. Germination occurs in 2-3 weeks, and the seedlings are slow growing. Trees may be grafted at about 1 year of age, or when the trunk is about the diameter of a pencil. They can be grafted by cleft, side veneer, bud, or approach. Outdoors in Zones 10B and 11. All good things take time, so I grow my plants and rare palms in. Much more to check out or just get a little education on in my store. After you Receive your Items. When you order a plant we assume you are prepared to care for it. It is your responsibility to know how to care for the plant. Do some research before they arrive or seek experienced help. Small plants need protection from many things, wind, sun, dry-out. They do well just in the garage or living room. They need good light but not sunlight (full sun will burn small plants). Small pots dry-out easily. Just sitting in a shallow tray of water works well. The idea is to keep the plants from dehydrating. Be careful if you decide to re-pot. Plants are easily damaged with new/different mix. Use NO fertilizers (this may kill your plants). 6 Date Palm (Phoenix Dactylifera) Fresh Exotic Palm Fruit Tree Seeds

6 Date Palm (Phoenix Dactylifera) Fresh Exotic Palm Fruit Tree Seeds

6 date palm (phoenix dactylifera) fresh exotic palm fruit tree seeds. Incredibly easy to germinate – along with date palm these are the easiest exotic plant or tree seeds you will ever grow! Date palm (phoenix dactylifera) is a palm in the genus phoenix, cultivated for its edible sweet fruit. Although its place of origin is unknown because of long cultivation, it probably originated from lands around the persian gulf. Date palm (phoenix dactylifera) produces the edible dates most commonly available in markets. Date palm is naturally a clumping tree, but its suckers are usually removed to create a single trunk. It works well to frame a multistory home, backyard or as a street tree. Date palm, growing 12-15 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide. The seeds require no pretreatment and will germinate quickly once exposed to warm, moist conditions. The resulting seedlings mature slowly and must be grown in pots for at least one year before planting them outdoors. Fill 6-inch-deep pots with sterile medium, such as a mix of half milled peat and half perlite, or half seed-starting compost and half coarse sand. Add water until the medium feels moderately moist in the top 3 inches. Prepare one pot for each seed you want to plant. Place one date palm seed in each container. Press the seed onto the surface of the growing medium so it is halfway buried. Cover the seed with a thin layer of coarse sand. Mist the sand liberally after sowing to help settle it onto the seed. Place the containers in a bright, sheltered spot with indirect sunlight. Warm the containers with a germination mat set to around 70 degrees fahrenheit. Cover the containers with a propagator or a sheet of plastic wrap. Maintain light moisture in the growing medium to prevent mold and bacterial growth while still providing the seed with the necessary moisture. Let the medium become nearly dry just beneath the surface, then water to a 1-inch depth. Watch for the first grasslike sprouts in three to eight weeks. Leave the propagator and germination mat in place until the date palm seedlings reach 2 inches in height, then turn off the germination mat. Remove the propagator two weeks after germination. Transplant the date palms into 1-gallon nursery containers filled with sand-based potting soil. Grow them under warm, bright conditions outdoors such as near a lightly shaded south-facing wall. Provide 2 inches of water weekly during their first summer. Acclimate the date palm seedlings to direct sun at the end of their first summer by placing them in an increasingly bright position for more hours each day. Grow them in full sun for one full year to ensure their root system is strong and well-developed before out-planting them. Provide supplemental water during the summer and in winter if no rain falls for longer than two weeks. Transplant the date palms into the landscape or into permanent planters in early summer of their second year. Grow them in full sun in sandy, fast-draining soil. Provide supplemental water for their first few years in the ground to promote fast growth. The seeds can be sent to any destination in the world.. We aim to provide our customers with the highest quality product and service. As with all seeds 100% germination success should not be expected although we select varieties known for their relatively higher success rates. Every effort is taken to ensure the quality of our seeds. However, it should be noted that seed germination is dependent on many factors including soil quality and conditions, temperatures and pests etc. Thank you for taking the time to review our listing. The item “6 Date Palm (Phoenix Dactylifera) Fresh Exotic Palm Fruit Tree Seeds” is in sale since Saturday, December 27, 2014.
