BONSAI TREE HARRY HIRAO MIKAWA JAPANESE BLACK PINE. Height: The height of the tree from the soil line to the top of the apex is 18. Canopy: The canopy is well proportioned and measures 21 wide. Trunk Diameter: The trunk Dia, is approximately 3.75 inches. Nebari (Root Spread): Tree shows many exposed Roots 9. I acquired this old Mikawa Japanese Black Pine from the late Harry Hirao collection. The old pine is a very nice piece that still needs to be wired and shaped. The tree is of the variety known as “Mikawa” Japanese Black pine. The main feature of the “Mikawa” Black Pine is the corky bark and it is a highly sought after pine. In Japan this tree will be better classified as a Nishiki Cork Bark Pine tree. Bonsai artist Peter Tea says that in the Mikawa region of Japan, there are actually small areas that grow strange offshoots of Black Pines. The Nishiki Cork Bark Black Pine is one of these rare offshoots. The bark itself is very similar to that of the prized Mikawa black pine that is found throughout Japan. A portion of the deadwood was attached for aesthetic reasons, but it was so well done that you will be challenged to find where the attachment actually took place. F you like the pictures than I guarantee that you will love this bonsai tree. Because of its rarity and because it. Has all the right ingredients in becoming a masterpiece soon this tree is a must have for any collection. A massive trunk, excellent branching, and a super flaky bark that shows the trees age are just a few of attributes this bonsai provides. Complementing the impressive trunk as well as the entire composition is a. Ceramic’Tokoname’ training pot and it was placed in the pot half a year ago (13×6). On a side note. Ive noticed that not too many sellers talk or write about things that should be done after you receive your tree so I will give you my two cents worth. When you receive your tree unpack it carefully. Cut the tape and plastic wrap from the pot and the branches if applicable. Secondly give the tree a good watering and then put the tree in a partially shaded spot for a few days to allow it to adjust. After several days of adjustment your new bonsai can be reintroduced to bright sun. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to fire off a message. Japanese Maple Seed Mikawa Yatsubusa Dwarf Variety Seeds Ideal for Bonsai

These seeds were picked fresh this past fall. They have been washed and dried.

These seeds would be ideal for bonsai but could also be grown for landscape use. Check out my feedback to hear from my satisfied customers! These are very rare seeds and i only have a limited quantity so get them while they last this year! Check out my other items for more japanese maple seeds! An outstanding dwarf japanese maple that is arguably one of the top three maples in the world today when it comes to bonsai.
This dwarf tree has outstanding structure, color and dense foliage. The leaves on this little dwarf overlap one another like shingles on a roof.

When the leaves first unfold in the spring they are a light yellow-green color. The thin-textured leaves become a medium green as they mature. The medium green leaf color turns golden-orange in the fall.

The outer portion of the leaves have bright red tips. The leaves are slightly longer than those of other dwarf forms.

The growth structure is multi-branched, forming a compact little plant. “mikawa yatsubusa” is always in great demand and when pruned can look like a near perfect japanese maple specimen.

Seeds are the result of sexual reproduction; since the pollinating tree is not known, and since japanese maple seedlings show great variability, the seedlings will not all look like the parent plant. Just as in humans where children take on characteristics of their parents but are a unique new combination of traits. This aspect of growing japanese maple seeds is part of what makes growing from seed an interesting and rewarding experience as you may be pleasantly surprised with the results.

You never know, you may discover the next big new cultivar that the whole japanese maple community desires! I will include detailed germination instructions with each order.
