THE POT IS UNGLAZED , OVAL 33 INCHES LONG , 8.5 TALL , AND 20 INCHES WIDE. IT IS RECENT CHINESE PRODUCTION AND NOT REMARKABLE. THE BONSAI IS IN GENERALLY GOOD HEALTH AND APPEARANCE ONLY. IT IS CONSIDERED A SLANT STYLE, HAS PROPER BRANCH PLACEMENT AND GOOD NEBARI (SPREAD OF SURFACE ROOTS AT THE BASE OF THE TREE). DESIGN IS VERY GOOD , BUT NEEDS REFINEMENT. The nebari has a solid start and taking advantage of the escape branches will produce taper for how you envision the final design. This tree was wire trained as a sapling and field grown for over three years to build vigor and girth, these were removed from the field last year and no root work should be done this year or next for ideal results. A Japanese Black Pine with unusual deadwood in the middle. It’s potted in a Isabella pot from Europe. Height (from top of pot/soil to apex) – 15 inches. Width – 19 inches. Depth – 18 inches. Nebari (root spread) – 7 inches. Care for the Japanese Black Pine. Sunlight – The Japanese Black Pine prefers lots of sunlight. Watering – Water when soil appears dry. Its advised to not keep the pine in permanently moist soil or allow to completely dry out. Feeding – Fertilize once a month, except during winter. Pruning – Pinching and trimming is required to maintain the size of the tree. Repotting – Repot every two to three years in spring before buds begin to swell. A well draining soil mixture is recommended. Signature required for all packages. The pots are packaged with heavy-duty bubble wrap. Shohin Japanese Black Pine Bonsai – Pinus Thunbergii. This tree is about 18 years old. In a 6.5″x5″x2 stamped quality Japanese pot. The tree stands only 6.5″ tall from the soil with 1.25″ trunk above the 2.5 base. Excellent flowing trunk line. The trunk shows nice plated bark. It has a pretty nice base and radial roots.
