13 year old Kingsville Boxwood, cleaned, trimmed, repotted, photographed 5/22/19. Grown from a cutting and planted with a group of collected limestone. The stones have veins of quarts running throughout them and tons of details. Sekijoju, Japanese for root over rock planting, I was also greatly inspired by Chinese Shanshui penjing and southwestern landscapes. Just trimmed, tree has the good beginnings of cloud pads. Standing 8 1/2 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet to the trees top, Its planted in an oval, dark blue brown, glazed pot, signed Jim Barrett and a chop mark. It measures 7″ x 5″ and is 1 3/8 from the bottom of the pots feet to its lip edge. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. As with all bonsai, the training never ends. This tree has training wires in place. This tree is due repotting in the fall of 2019 and when that takes place the trees value will naturally increase.
