AKA Princess Maple and is a fairly new introduction from Kyoto Japan(2008). This Very Unique Dwarf Japanese Maple has a Very Compact growth Habit and Very Small leaves when compared to most other Japanese Maples. In Spring the new growth is Red to Pink and slowly matures to Dark Green. The Red New Growth Throughout the year really stands out against the Green mature leaves. Tree has Nice Nebari, Taper, Movement, Structure and a BIG Thick Trunk. Prefers Partial to Full Sun depending on climate. This healthy 10 year old dwarf Japanese Maple Kuro Himi measures 16 x 9 x 7 inches with a one inch wide trunk. This tree does not include the pot. The word bonsai simply means a tree or shrub grown in a pot that is prevented from reaching it’s full size by pruning, shaping with wire, etc. To a desired shape. Many people have a perception of what they believe to be a “Bonsai”. What looks like a bonsai is simply subjective (up to the person viewing the plant). A bonsai is actually never finished because they continue to grow. When the plant reaches the point that it is a bonsai is up to the one viewing it. I consider all of the plants I sell as “bonsai” are in the category from beginning (starter plants) to mature and everything in between. Please note that the color of the leaves of Japanese Maples vary from season to season and because of environmental conditions sunlight, etc. The colors from spring to summer and fall may change considerably. The colors of the leaves may look different than the photos when you receive them because of these changes. It has a Compact Growth Habit and small leaves making it Great Bonsai Material. In spring leaves emerge Bright Pink to Red and will mature to a Dark Green with Red Veins and Edges in Summer.
