Because of the slow growth rate in the trunk, branch, and foliage area this tree has been designed and redesigned numerous times throughout its life. On that note, I find that the branch structure of this tree works well with this mature bonsai. Along with the thick branches, the massive trunk adds a realistic harmony to this venerable giant. Complementing the impressive trunk as well as the entire composition is an old rectangular Japanese Tokoname ceramic bonsai pot (16 ¾x12 ½x5). Although most of the quality Japanese pottery bears an incision or mark made by the artist or craftsman, a few makers do not mark the item thereby making the pot itself their signature. In Japan this pot is known as a “non-kamajirushi, ” which means non-marked. The old aquamarine greenish/blue pot is also inundated with a strong patina that is a testament to the pots old age. On a side note. Ive noticed that not too many sellers talk or write about things that should be done after you receive your tree so I will give you my two cents worth. When you receive your tree unpack it carefully. Cut the tape and plastic wrap from the pot and the branches if applicable. Secondly give the tree a good watering and then put the tree in a partially shaded spot for a few days to allow it to adjust.
