This pot was made by the Yamaaki kiln. A long standing 3 generation kiln that stopped making pots in 2010. There pots are great value for the quality, and its always nice to own a piece of bonsai history as these will never be made again. I visited the kiln, although cold, it still stands in Tokoname prefecture. Its in a state of derelict so it was very cool to see it before its totally gone. This Pot is a beautiful pot, Great shape. But please note on these old yamaaki pots with the windows, the window sills always have some small chips. Keep in mind these pots are 30-50 years old and have been used for decades in japan. Please see all pics for any little chips and please ask questions of you have them. Pot size, in inches. NOTE: The first two photos, taken 11/10/18 show the trees late fall colors. This tree is now totally dormant. Ulmus parvifolia Chinese elm with dragon like cascade styling. This twisting semi cascade elm was started from a single root cuttings, 8 years ago. The tree and pot stands 12 tall from the bottom the pots feet to the top of the tree. Planted in an elegant unglazed, signed/with multiple chops and beautifully illustrated Yixing Zisha purple clay Chinese pot. It measures 4 1/2 square at the top and is tapered down to 3 square at the feet and is 5 1/8 tall from the bottom of its feet to its top lip. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a root cutting from its parent tree. Every few years I produce a few of these trees and this one has shown to have developed well and have good quality prospects. It has been repotted this spring and shows great vigor. This tree has been wired at several stages during its development and trimmed to achieve this wonderful styling. The naturally small leaves make Chinese Elm an ideal Candidate for bonsai. This was made by the now closed Yamaaki pot. Its got a beautiful shape and size. It Would complement a conifer very nicely. Please note this pot has a small chip on one foot. It also has some chips inside the pot from when someone harshly pride out a very root bound tree. Its cosmetic and wont be seen with tree/soil/roots inside. But it must be noted. Pot size, in inches.
