Root over rock, or Sekjoju styled Chinese elm. This Sekjoju arrangement stands 16 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet, to the trees top. Its sensuous, trunk line, evokes, the image of a dragon ascending a mountain spire. The limestone spire, is riddled with tiny quarts crystal, throughout. The stone was collected in Virginia. The flower shaped, unglazed, Yixing Zisha pot is of the highest quality, measuring 9 1/4 in diameter and is 2 7/8 tall from the bottom of its three cloud feet to top its lip. This pot is marked with a Chinese Chop. I have personally tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. As with all bonsai, the training never stops. Shimpaku juniper Itoigawa, Wire trained, potted in a very fine Chinese unglazed Yixing Zisha pot. This arrangement stands 10 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet to the trees top. Its canopy measures 7 at its widest point. Its planted in a beautiful Chinese purple clay Yixing Zisha unglazed pot. It measures 5 in diameter with scalloped edges and is 2 1/2 tall from the pots lip to the base of its feet. This Tree was grown from a cutting, taken approximately 9 years ago. Trained into this style in its pre-bonsai stage, both copper and aluminum wire were used in the creation of this final design. The heavy wires have been removed. Pinch and grow will be its development path from this stage on, so the hard part is done. It was repotted late winter 2020 and shows great vigorous growth and exceptional future potential. Wire removal should begin in late summer- winter 2020. There is organic fertilizer on the soil surfaces this time. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. The first photo taken 4/12/20. The others were taken 3/19/20. This Chinese elm is one of a limited series. This arrangement was developed from a root cutting, over a 9 year period. Inspired by the dramatic Chinese Penjing styling, its coiling roots just clasp the highly textured Limestone. Seeming to defy the elements, the trees roots grip the stones crevices, its limbs reach down the stones profile to help give balance the overall design. The stone has pockets and veins of quarts and quarts crystals running throughout the stones surface. This tree stands 15 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet, to the trees top. Its every curve and bend was created with intent, using wire, bamboo, twine and trimming. If interested, please make contact for most recent photos. Pictured with its first green buds showing, as if 3/19/20. Its planted in an exquisite Yixing Zisha round flower or lotus style Chinese pot. This pot is of the highest quality and was especially obtained, to compliment this carefully balanced arrangement. The pot measures 9 in diameter and is 3 tall from the bottom of its cloud feet to its lip. I have personally tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. Shimpaku juniper Bonsai, wire trained into a slant style in a Chinese unglazed Yixing Zisha pot, measuring 6 1/4 in diameter and 2 5/8 tall, with chop marks. This arrangement stands 11 tall. The tree extends approximately 8 3/4 from the pots side. The trunk has a split bamboo support at the edge of its pot. This Tree was grown from a cutting, taken approximately 14+ years ago. It has had water channel cutting, Shari and Jin were added, as well as repeated wire training over the years to result in this shape and style. Most of the wires, both Copper and aluminum, can begin to be removed near the end of this summer 2020. Pinch and grow will be its development path from this stage on. It was repotted late winter 2020 and shows great vigorous growth and future potential. There is organic fertilizer mixed into the soils surface. Chinese Elm Specimen Bonsai Tree In Yixing Zisha Unglazed Show Quality Pot. This tree has been estimated to be 40-50 years old. It has a 3 diameter trunk base and developed nebari. The pot is a high quality Yixing piece made for showing trees at exhibitions. This elm is growing vigorously, so pruning is necessary. It has been pruned back just before listing. The soil is a mix of akadama, lava and pumice. Photos were taken in different times through styling. It is refined currently. I will fertilize it tomorrow, June 6th.
