Juniper was started many years ago by my Sensei Roy Nagatoshi. The two trees were collected about twelve years ago. These two rustic small giants have all of the right ingredients necessary in becoming a masterpiece very soon. Although both trees were ideal for grafting the branches with Shimpaku foliage, it was decided not to graft the twin trunks in order to maintain its rustic and natural appearance. A few of the trees attributes are two very weathered and sinuous trunks, great taper, excellent branch placement, and outstanding Jin and Shari (Deadwood) that is seen throughout both trees. In my opinion if the proper care is done, this Bonsai should be show ready by next Spring. Notes on the tree. One thing that my Sensei and Bonsai Master Roy Nagatoshi has taught me and has also mastered is the use of negative space. Roy always stresses to me that in bonsai what is not there is just as important as what is there (branches). In the case of this Bonsai, anything that was not absolutely crucial to the trees story was removed or jinned. Overall, the composition of this Hollywood Kaizuka juniper shows two trees that have weathered the tough times and have emerged as something more beautiful because of it which is the true meaning of resilience. The elegant curvature of both trunks and their lower branches gives one the impression of two trees that have spent their entire life by the edge of a mountain side. Working in concert with the beautiful rustic posture of both trees is an equally impressive oval bonsai pot. The ceramic containers measurements are 22×18x6 (LxWxH). On a side note. Ive noticed that not too many sellers talk or write about things that should be done after you receive your tree so I will give you my two cents worth. When you receive your tree unpack it carefully. Cut the tape and plastic wrap from the pot and the branches if applicable. Secondly give the tree a good watering and then put the tree in a partially shaded spot for a few days to allow it to adjust.
