This Chinese Elm is approximately 10 years old. This is the Catlin variety, its basically the dwarf version of the regular Elm, leaves are extremely compact, very hard to find. It measures 11 tall above the soil by 9 wide with a 1 Windswept Style Trunk. Nice movement on this trunk. Tree is growing very healthy on a 10×8 Green Glazed Lotus Style pot. Great species for begginers. See a picture of a Catlin Elm specimen (last picture) so you can get an idea of how they look when older and finished. Great for Indoor by a window/Outdoor on a semi shaded area or even exposed to full sun. Shimpaku windswept style Saikei, planted on red rock sandstones. This Shimpaku Juniper Saikei Bonsai features a 12 year old multi trunk tree grown from a cutting. It has been in wire training for 3 years to achieve this harmony with the stone grouping. Some training wires are in place. Appearing to brace against the wind this tree is rooted into the group of 7 stones, 5 are bonded together with a cavity in the center, where the main roots travel down into the pot and under the stones. This Tree has some roots that run between and under the stones. Moss has grown over the roots and between the stones. It was repotted the spring of 2018. It shows great vigor and is now being pinch trimmed to maintain the cloud form canopy. It stands 10 1/4 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet to the trees top. Its planted in a Korean red clay high quality unglazed pot. This pot was chosen to accentuate the shape and colors of the stones. The pot measures approximately 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 and measures 1 1/2 from the pots lip to the base of its feet. This arrangement was inspired by the landscapes I was exposed to while growing up in the southwestern US. Every winter I wire a few trees to begin the process of creating something Id seen during those times. This is a good representation of one of those many special places where nature has presented a story of struggle and survival, thus beauty. The Flat Irons in Boulder Colorado were truly my inspiration for this saikei. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. This Dwarf Hinoki Cypress (Compressa Nana) has a traditional bonsai shape, reminiscent of a tree stuck on a windy Japanese cliff. Premna Microphylla Bonsai Tree. Premna is a sub-tropical plant found in many countries. In Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia it is prized as one of the favorite species for Bonsai. But very unusual in this country. Premna is relatively high tolerated to different soil condition and climate, so it can easily grow in many sub-tropical countries. Premna is a very fast growing tree, sometime is too fast. There are always new shoots (s uckers) growing from the surface roots. This characteristic can bring the potential for some plants to be trained as mini bonsai, for it is possible to greatly reduce the leaf size. The size of new leaves is approximately 9cm, but with proper pruning they can be reduced to 2mm! And the foliage can be made very compact. Premna grows along the sandy or rocky seacoast as small trees or shrubs, and some in mountainous area. The one from seacoast is most likely used for bonsai due to the unique texture of the trunk especially for the natural. As the result of natural forces e.
