THE HUCKLEBERRY IS IN THE BLUEBERRY FAMILY AND PUTS OUT SMALL WHITE FLOWERS AND THEY TURN INTO GREEN SMALL TART BERRIED (EDIBLE) THAT TURN PURPLE WHEN READY TO EAT. THE TREE IS ROUGHLY 16 YEARS OLD AND HAS BEEN GROWN AND STYLED OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS AND HAS AN AMAZING GREAT BASE. THE POT MEASURES 6 1/2 INCHES BY 4 1/2 INCHES AND IS 2 1/4 INCHES TALL. Bonsai Huckleberry Native Blueberry Species Rare Yamadori fruits flowers 53yrs. It is in a stamped tokaname lt turquoise pot that is 7×5 inches by 2.2 inches tall. The tree is 6 inches talll from the soil line and 5.5 inches wide. It has a massive trunk that is 2 3/8 of an inch wide. It puts on small white flowers in April and they turn into fruit. It is just amazing when it flowers, some years it has been so covered with flowers you could hardly see the foliage. Then on top of that the flowers turn to small black berries which are edible. People make jam from the berries. Huckleberry’s are in the blueberry family, extremely slow growing and a rarity to be able to collect one. My brother collected this tree over 15 years ago and is one of the nicest shohin yamadori (collected tree) flowering and fruiting I have seen. I have owned it 6 years and it has just thrived. It has been trimmed, pinched back, fertilized and repotted at all the appropriate times. Collected in 2014 and very well established and ready for a new home. This tree has excellent branch placement and wonderful trunk movement. This tree will be ready to show after a few wirings. It is currently starting to flower and the leaves have a striking crimson color in Fall, great for showing at multiple times of the year. Please notice near the nebari there is some deadwood, I’ve placed my fingers under the left side (see picture) to show there are no roots directly there. Measurements: Height: 17″ Width: 18″ Trunk Diameter: 2″ Nebari (root spread): 6″. Hardiness Zones: 6 -10. This tree ships semi bare root.
