Root over rock, or Sekjoju styled Chinese elm. This Sekjoju arrangement stands 16 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet, to the trees top. Its sensuous, trunk line, evokes, the image of a dragon ascending a mountain spire. The limestone spire, is riddled with tiny quarts crystal, throughout. The stone was collected in Virginia. The flower shaped, unglazed, Yixing Zisha pot is of the highest quality, measuring 9 1/4 in diameter and is 2 7/8 tall from the bottom of its three cloud feet to top its lip. This pot is marked with a Chinese Chop. I have personally tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. As with all bonsai, the training never stops. Shimpaku juniper Itoigawa, Wire trained, potted in a very fine Chinese unglazed Yixing Zisha pot. This arrangement stands 10 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet to the trees top. Its canopy measures 7 at its widest point. Its planted in a beautiful Chinese purple clay Yixing Zisha unglazed pot. It measures 5 in diameter with scalloped edges and is 2 1/2 tall from the pots lip to the base of its feet. This Tree was grown from a cutting, taken approximately 9 years ago. Trained into this style in its pre-bonsai stage, both copper and aluminum wire were used in the creation of this final design. The heavy wires have been removed. Pinch and grow will be its development path from this stage on, so the hard part is done. It was repotted late winter 2020 and shows great vigorous growth and exceptional future potential. Wire removal should begin in late summer- winter 2020. There is organic fertilizer on the soil surfaces this time. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. This Kingsville Boxwood Buxus microphylla compacta Bonsai is 12 years old and was started from a select cutting. It stands 8 1.2 Tall from the bottom of the pots feet to the trees top. This tree has very nice potential. Well proportioned, surface roots have been manipulated to create a good classic arrangement. Strong tapered trunk with good ramification. Its planted in a round Japanese unglazed cream color drum style pot, that measures 5 in diameter and is 2 3/16 tall from the pots lip to the base of its feet. Its a new pot still has remnants of its sticker Fuji. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. This Chinese elm is one of a limited series. This arrangement was developed from a root cutting, over a 9 year period. Inspired by dramatic Chinese Penjing styling, its coiling roots just clasp the iron stained Limestone/quartz rock. There is a natural Jute twine Securing the top to the stone. Originally bound to the stone it now sits on the stone with its roots following the stones contour. This arrangement stands 12 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet, to the trees top. Its every curve and bend was created with intent, using wire, bamboo, twine and trimming. Its planted in an oval, high fired, blue/black, glazed Chinese pot. This pot is not a quality designed pot. The pot measures 11 x 8 and is 2 1/4 tall from the bottom of its feet to its lip. This tree deserves a quality designed pot. In the coming year, I will repot this tree into a pot, with quality attributes, that better reflect this trees styling. Its value will reflect this change, at that time. I have personally tended this tree from its beginnings, as a root cutting from its parent tree. As with all bonsai, the training never stops. This tree training wires have been removed.
