Over those years, I have styled it into:’becoming’ a fine bonsai for display’. It will develop more dense foliage and as time goes by I will continually improve the design. Pre Bonsai, Japanese Maple, Acer palmatum, greenleaf, unknown cultivar. New spring foliage fresh green with crimson margins, fall color deep crimson. These photos were taken 26 Sep 2020, and the fall coloration has just begun- spectacular! Trunk caliper 1 at soil line, H. 13″, canopy spread 10″. Transplanted and root pruned in March 2020. Age- 18 years from a cutting from my stock plant. Rhythmically placed primary branches are already developing caliper in proportion to the trunk thickness. This tree needs secondary and tertiary branch development. Partially leaf-pruned in July 2020. Second crop of leaves came in much smaller than the first flush of leaves in spring, and the new leaves were greatly reduced in size and had stunning crimson margins. Shimpaku juniper Itoigawa, Wire trained, potted in a very fine Chinese unglazed Yixing Zisha pot. This arrangement stands 10 tall, from the bottom of the pots feet to the trees top. Its canopy measures 7 at its widest point. Its planted in a beautiful Chinese purple clay Yixing Zisha unglazed pot. It measures 5 in diameter with scalloped edges and is 2 1/2 tall from the pots lip to the base of its feet. This Tree was grown from a cutting, taken approximately 9 years ago. Trained into this style in its pre-bonsai stage, both copper and aluminum wire were used in the creation of this final design. The heavy wires have been removed. Pinch and grow will be its development path from this stage on, so the hard part is done. It was repotted late winter 2020 and shows great vigorous growth and exceptional future potential. Wire removal should begin in late summer- winter 2020. There is organic fertilizer on the soil surfaces this time. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a cutting from its parent tree. This Kingsville Boxwood Buxus microphylla compacta Bonsai is 12 years old and was started from a select cutting. It stands 8 1.2 Tall from the bottom of the pots feet to the trees top. This tree has very nice potential. Well proportioned, surface roots have been manipulated to create a good classic arrangement. Strong tapered trunk with good ramification. Its planted in a round Japanese unglazed cream color drum style pot, that measures 5 in diameter and is 2 3/16 tall from the pots lip to the base of its feet. Large Specimen Korean Hornbeam. In the mid 90’s from one America’s top bonsai artists, Suthin Sukosolvisit. Check him out on google, you’ll be quite impressed. The tree for sale was initially started by Suthin and over the years, I think. It’s now time for it to move onto a new owner, since I’ve. Retired and to cull or maybe totally sell off my bonsai. It was repotted last year into a Mica pot, as the one that it was in cracked. There may be some leaf drop as we’re getting closer to fall, but the buds. For next year are quite visible.
