Ulmus parvifolia Chinese elm Cork Bark Mame semi cascade Bonsai. NOTE: first photo taken 4/10/19 other photos taken 4/6/19. This tree was started from a single root cutting 6 years ago. It stands 6 tall from the bottom of its pots feet to the top of the tree. With its twisting trunk and branches this Semi Cascade tree has great beginnings. It was last repotted spring of 2018. Planted in an Chinese blue glazed quality pot that measures 4 1/8 tall from the bottom of its feet to the top lip and is 2 3/4 at the top lip and 2 square at the bottom. I have tended this tree from its beginnings, as a root cutting from its parent tree. Every few years I produce a few of these trees and this one has shown to have developed well. It has been repotted this spring and shows great vigor. This tree has had extensive wiring done during its development and does now have some training wires in place. The naturally small leaves of Chinese Elm make it an ideal Candidate for bonsai. This tree shows well and is uniquely special. THIS LISTING IS FOR THE EXACT ITEM PICTURED. Up for sale is a Little Jade Bonsai tree CORK BARK (Portulacaria afra) aka dwarf jade, elephant bush, spekboom, pork bush. This is a cool little tree! The height of the tree from the soil line is 4 inches. The tree is planted in a plastic growing container and ready for a pot. The tree was rooted as a cutting almost two years ago. The cork bark porty is highly prized due to it’s aged bark. This species loves water and lots of fertilizer which helps it grow fast. It’s an outdoor tree that thrives with lots of water but if neglected, it conserves it’s water but continues to grow. The perfect outdoor species for bonsai. Cork elm bonsai stock. Height – 6 inch. Canopy width – 5 inch. Diameter – 1 1/4 inch (measured below lowest branch). Flare at soil level – 1 3/4 inch. Features – This is a nice twisted cork elm. This tree was twisted with wire as a sapling and placed into the field. You can see there is still a piece of wire showing in the photo. This tree is nicely corked. The tree has nice taper and flare at the soil level. The cork elm is a rapid grower and will fill in quickly. This tree would make a nice candidate for a shohin size bonsai. The cork elm is a varietal of Chinese elm that shows a rough textured bark as the tree ages. This is a tree that I twisted with wire as a sapling and placed into the ground. As you can see from the photo’s, part of the wire is still exposed. The wire will completely embed itself into the tree in a few more years. The branches all started this year and will fill in quickly. This tree would make the perfect candidate for a shohin size bonsai. Very hard to come by stocktruth ready to start putting branches on it within the next two years the tree will be almost all the way covered in the rough bark very vigorous grower. Basically amounts to an arkawa stump. This is how we do it. You have to grow it up tall and then cut it off if you want any trunk diameter now start building the bonsai. Bonsai Japanese cork bark black pine shohin mame show ready 51yrs large trunk. This little gem is in a stamped tokoname pot that is, 7.25×5.75 inches by 2.25 inch hight. The tree is 6 inches from the soil line and is 6 inches wide. It has a massive trunk of 3 inches, also shows the very strong formation of secondary limbs with great corking. The corking on this guy is the best I have ever seen. It was brought back from Japan over 30 years ago by my father. It was his pride and joy and would show it every year in the american bonsai club here in sacramento ca. He won several awards over the years ranging from best show in mame shohin class to members choice. It is one of the only cork bark japanese black pines that has natural short needles to it. I have owned it for 9 years and have enjoyed working on it and viewing it. It has been repotted, decandled, pinched backh and fertilized at all of the apropiate times. I know the new owner will get the same gratification out of this prize tree that I have.
