The tree was field grown as bonsai stock at Grateful Gardens Nursery of central PA for over 25 years. It was transplanted 5-6 times over its life with root work each time. It was grown in the ground and potted spring of 17. Once removed from the field, The tree was cut back to expose the trunk and develop branch pads. This tree is an absolute beast that has a massive trunk, very nice branching and a beautiful overall form. It also has a nice, full canopy and is ready for styling and a bonsai pot. Wild root feature at base can be removed, carved into a deadwood feature, or the planting angle can be changed and it would be incorporated into the base of the bonsai. This tree was started as a seedling, It was field grown at grateful gardens nursery in central PA for about 10 years before being potted last spring. It was transplanted 3-4 times with root work each time. This is a solid start for a big Japanese maple. It has a nice, sturdy looking trunk with a pile of well placed branches to work with. Once the package is received by the carrier the transit time is completely out of my control. This is one of my top two cherries this year; I almost decided not to sell it. This individual has good trunk taper and excellent curves. There are many branches available to be used to form the primary limbs and apex. New shoots will sprout from the trunk that can be used to further develop primary branches. Twigs are quite flexible and easy to wire and bend. There is a large stub on the left that is the remainder of a sacrifice branch that was used to thicken the trunk; keep it to continue thickening the trunk or cut it back to encourage more shoots to sprout. This tree has lots of good roots all of the way around the base of the trunk. Continuing to develop the nebari should be easy since new roots sprout readily, even from big root cuts. It was grown in the ground and potted this spring. This big old boxwood has a fantastic form with great branching, a killer flared base and a superb trunk. This tree is quite small for how monstrous the trunk is. Best Morris dwarf bonsai stock you will see for sale for a long time. It reminds me of a big old lone oak In the middle of a field!
